Ortonovo, in the Province of La Spezia, is the east-most town of Liguria region, and borders with Tuscany close to Carrara city.
The city of Luni sites on the plain. It was an ancient Roman port and today gives hospitality to the Museo Archeologico Nazionale (National Museum of Archeology). On the beautiful hills there are historical villages like Nicola, terrace in front of the sea, Ortonovo with the Tower Guinigi and Borgo Annunziata, that developed after the decline of Luni around the year one thousand.

You can reach the beaches at Marinella and Marina di Carrara, Marina di Massa, you can do boat trips to Spiaggioni, Punta Corvo, Punta Bianca, Island of Tino and Island Della Palmaria. You can visit the marble quarries of Carrara, the Malaspina Castle in Massa, Sarzana, Lerici, Cinque Terre, without forgetting the Regional Natural Park of Monte Marcello Magra (Parco Naturale Regionale di Montemarcello Magra ) with the Botanical Garden, the High Lunigiana, Forte dei Marmi and Versilia.

The artistic cities of Lucca and Pisa are only at one-hour drive from La Sarticola and in a little more you can easily reach also Florence, Genoa and Parma.
