La Sarticola

Country House in Luni in the countryside

The Agriturismo La Sarticola is situated in the hills of Ortonovo, in an open and scenic location that overlooks the lands of Luni, the mouth of the Magra River, and the coastline stretching from Versilia to Monte Marcello. Surrounding the property are vineyards, olive groves, and glimpses of Mediterranean scrub, creating a peaceful and authentic atmosphere, perfect for those looking to stay close to nature. The hospitality is rooted in the Antonelli family's agricultural business, where wine, extra virgin olive oil, honey, and vegetables are produced. The presence of small farm animals and educational farm activities enhance the experience, making it especially suitable for those who want to closely discover the rhythms and flavors of the countryside. Guests can choose from two rooms and a two-room apartment, all designed to be simple and welcoming for a relaxing vacation in a family-oriented setting. The garden and the panoramic terrace are among the most enjoyable areas of the property, ideal for stopping to admire the landscape that descends from the hills toward the sea. The agriturismo's kitchen highlights local traditions with Italian, Mediterranean, and regional dishes, prepared with a focus on the authenticity and quality of the ingredients. The restaurant features a spacious dining area suitable for lunches, dinners, and events, and offers vegetarian, dairy-free, and gluten-free options upon request. Its location allows for easy access to the archaeological sites of ancient Luni, the sea, Versilia, Monte Marcello, and the Apuan Alps, providing a convenient starting point for experiencing a stay filled with countryside, history, delicious cuisine, and stunning landscapes.

Our breakfast

The day begins with a hearty breakfast designed to please every palate, offering a wide variety of sweet and savory options. You will find homemade pastries and fresh baked goods, bread and focaccia, toasted slices, cereals, yogurt, along with jams and honey made by us. For those who prefer savory flavors, upon request we prepare a selection of local cured meats and organic cheeses. To complement your breakfast, you can choose your favorite drink: cappuccino, tea, milk, espresso or American coffee, and fruit juices. During spring and summer, breakfast is served outdoors on the terrace with a sea view, allowing you to start your day surrounded by the breeze and the vibrant colors of the coast.

Simplicity, tradition, innovation, and authenticity are the principles that guide every dish we create. We believe the best way to highlight the quality of raw ingredients is to honor them: using few components, essential preparation methods, and recipes that allow genuine flavors to shine through. Our cuisine is deeply rooted in tradition, yet always open to fresh ideas and interpretations. We enjoy rediscovering old recipes, creatively reinventing them while never losing sight of what defines us: simplicity. Much of what we serve at the table comes directly from our own farm: vegetables from our gardens, meats from our livestock, fresh eggs, flour, extra virgin olive oil, honey, jams, and wines produced by us. If you choose to dine with us for lunch or dinner at our farmhouse, you will experience wholesome cooking made with ingredients that tell the story of our land and the passion with which we cultivate and transform them every day.

You will be hosted by Matteo

Our story began in 1998, when my parents, Carlo and Paola, decided to buy a small ruin nestled in the countryside, surrounded by a beautiful estate. My brother Marco and I were still children, and that place was meant to be just a refuge to spend Sundays and allow my father, who never managed to stay still, to devote himself to the land. Over time, that dream started to take shape. In Sarticola, a lovely area within the municipality of Luni (then Ortonovo), the lands were gradually restored. The first bottles of olive oil were produced, farm animals were introduced, vineyards and a vegetable garden were established, along with the first products intended not only for our family but also for friends and local residents. This is how Azienda Agricola La Sarticola came into being. Our enthusiasm grew year after year, and in 2000, my parents decided to open a small agritourism business. The idea was simple: "at most a few tables and a couple of rooms for friends." But the project immediately won over everyone who visited. In the following years, we also became an educational farm, sharing with both adults and children a passion for nature, animals, and rural life. When it came time to envision my future, the choice was natural: to continue this family story, investing and looking ahead without losing our roots. With many sacrifices and the valuable support of the whole family, we expanded the farm, doubling the land and increasing production. In 2011, we renovated the agritourism, making it even more welcoming, comfortable, and functional. Our growth journey continued in 2025 with the addition of new rooms and the renovation of the company’s workshops: the winery, the honey production area, and the olive oil shop—spaces that reflect the work and passion we put into our products every day. Today, we welcome you with the same enthusiasm as before, in a warm family atmosphere where authenticity, hospitality, and love for the land remain our most important ingredients. We would be delighted to share with you our little corner of paradise.
